When Charlotte Tilbury was developing her new Beautiful Skin Concealer ($33), her goal was simple: To create a medium- coverage product that concealed imperfections, dark circles, and fine lines while hydrating and illuminating skin for 16 hours straight. Sounds exactly what a bride would want to use on her wedding day, no? Which explains why Sarah Hyland chose exactly this concealer for her own walk down the aisle (and subsequent dance floor shenanigans) this past Saturday.
Hyland’s makeup artist, Denika Bedrossian, used the product along with a slew of other Charlotte Tilbury faves to create an “effortless, romantic, and delicate” bridal look that would stay put through even the sweatiest rendition of “Dancing in September.” And after testing the product for myself on multiple 90-degree New York City days, I can confirm that it’s got the sort of staying power worth talking about.
Tilbury describes the concealer as “shapewear,” meaning that it complements your natural features by smoothing them out and enhancing them. It’s got buildable coverage, but even a single layer diminishes the appearance of my late-summer discoloration and under-eye circles. Thanks to an itty-bitty, angled applicator, it’s easy to apply the product exactly where you need it, and leaves behind a natural-looking, slightly-dewy finish that makes it hard to tell you’re wearing any makeup at all.
Not only does it last all day without caking or flaking, but it puts in work at the same time. It’s infused with potent skin-care actives like hydrating hyaluronic acid, skin-tone evening niacinamide, and brightening vitamin C. Not only do these ingredients offer an instant plumping glow, but they also improve the appearance of your skin over time. In clinical trials conducted by the brand, users reported that their skin felt twice as hydrated one hour after application, and 93 percent saw a visible reduction in their dark circles over time.
I’m a big believer in having a “concealer wardrobe,” and have traditionally used multiple products to cover up different concerns (one for my dark spots, another under my eyes, etc.). But now that I’ve got Beautiful Skin in my arsenal, that’s not the case. Because of its buildable coverage and “your skin but better” finish, I can use it all over my face—I apply one layer under my eyes and two on top of any severe discoloration, then blend it out with a sponge. When I’m done, my skin looks so even that I don’t even need to bother with foundation. This stuff has pared my complexion routine down to a single step, and for that I am endlessly grateful.
I’m a ways away from my own wedding day, but I know for sure that when the time comes, Charlotte Tilbury’s Beautiful Skin Concealer will be the guest of honor.
