Leave it to Amazon to announce a blowout sale just when we need it most (although, a good sale is always appreciated). It’s been a couple months since Prime Day, and Black Friday sales are still weeks (and a few more weeks after that) away. To remedy our need for serious price cuts in between, Amazon announced the Prime Early Access Sale, a 48-hour sale event. Think of it as Prime Day’s sequel, Black Friday’s prequel, or simply time to polish your wish list.
What and when is Prime Early Access Sale?
Mark your calendars! Amazon has announced that the Prime Early Access Sale will occur October 11-12. Like Prime Day, it’s a two-day blow out sale on thousands of items across all product categories—electronics, clothing, pets, toys, fitness, beauty, and home, for starters.
Pre-pandemic—remember those days?—Amazon traditionally hosted Prime Day in July, but delayed it in 2020 due to you-know-what. That year it took place in October instead. Now that Prime Day is back to its summer spot (this year in June), Amazon is blessing us with an additional fall sale with the announcement of Prime Early Access Day.
Just think: You could get a jump start on holiday shopping even earlier than normal, and perhaps spend Thanksgiving weekend a little more relaxed and a little less behind the screen of Black Friday sales. Plan properly, and you could check everyone off your “to buy for” list before you’ve even cracked open the Halloween candy. Or heck, just shop for yourself and get that serum you’ve been eyeing, or sweater that’ll make you feel more cozy.
How do I shop the Prime Early Access Sale?
Like Prime Day, the Early Access Sale is exclusive to those who have an Amazon Prime membership. If you’re not already a Prime member, now’s the time to sign up for a free 30-day trial. (You can do that here.) After those 30 days, a membership costs $14.99 each month, or $139 per year. Membership perks, in addition to the Early Access Sale and Prime Day prices, include free two-day shipping, access to Prime Video, ad-free music streaming, as well as unlimited reading and photo storage.
As Prime Day Early Access gets closer, Prime members can subscribe to receive deal alert notifications based on their recent Amazon searches. Simply visit the Prime Early Access Sale event page on the Amazon app anytime now until the event to do so, and once the sale begins, members will receive notifications on any available deals that may particularly strike their fancy.
You can also create deal lists with Alexa. If you don’t want to miss a deal (who does?), add products to your wish list, cart, or save for later list, and then Alexa will notify members up to 24 hours before the sale goes live on items in their lists. Best of all, Alexa can even purchase the deal once it’s available if you find yourself stuck in traffic or a never-ending Zoom on the day of the sale.

Circadian Optics Light Therapy Lamp — $34.00

Hand-in-hand with all of the perks of fall (snuggling up in sweaters, Hocus Pocus on repeat, anything pumpkin-flavored) comes the downside of daylight saving time kicking in. Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD) is very much real, and can knock down your mood and energy. This light therapy lamp though, which is now 29 percent off, can combat those bummed out feelings. This one features a non-slip bottom, so it’s sturdy and easy to use. Plus, it’s not a total eyesore in your home.
Bissell 2554A CrossWave Cordless Max All in One Wet-Dry Vacuum Cleaner and Mop — $358.00
Originally $412, now $358
You know you’ve reached a certain level of adulthood when you’re pumped about a vacuum cleaner being 13 percent off. It doesn’t sound like much, but for an investment piece like this Bissell wet/dry vacuum cleaner/mop combo, it’ll save you some serious dollars. Now you can vacuum and wash at the same time with up to 30 minutes of cordless cleaning power, so you’re not constantly tripping over the cord and searching for the next closest outlet. Your wood floors—and rugs and tile and laminate and rubber floor mats!—will thank you.
