San Diego Comic-Con is back.
Between the Covid-19 pandemic and the writers and actors strikes last year, Comic-Con is looking for a return to glory in 2024, with several TV networks and streaming services showing up to provide activations for attendees. Though last year’s Comic-Con saw some major brands, such as Marvel, skip out on presenting panels, this year is more of a return to normal.
Among the highlights, Paramount+ is bringing The Lodge back for attendees to experience its content and shows, while Hulu is back with its cartoon universe. Meanwhile, Max is recreating a seedy Gotham nightclub, complete with adult beverages. (Sorry to the participants under the age of 21.)
Here are the TV-themed activations you need to see for 2024, many of which will run through July 28:
The Lodge (Paramount+)

Paramount+ is bringing The Lodge, created in partnership with 15|40 Productions, back to San Diego Comic-Con for a second year. The interactive experience is adding even more activations based on some of Paramount’s popular franchises. For instance, guests can create a custom t-shirt on the Star Trek starship, get a tattoo at the Ink Master tattoo parlor, go “jelly spotting” in Bikini Bottom, grab a drink at Tulsa King’s BRED2BUCK Saloon or stop by for a slice of pizza at the Tales of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles-themed pizza parlor.
It will take place at Gaslamp’s Happy Does from July 24 to July 27. This year, visitors will receive a Lodge Ski Pass, which includes an exclusive offer for a 3-month Walmart+ subscription and other surprise rewards.
SpongeBob SquarePants Takeover (Nickelodeon and Paramount+)

Along with The Lodge, Paramount+ and Nickelodeon will have a separate activation dedicated entirely to SpongeBob Squarepants in honor of the show’s 25th anniversary. The immersive experience will include a larger-than-life tribute to the original pilot episode in a 1,800-square-foot booth, which will allow visitors to be transported to replicas of SpongeBob’s pineapple house, The Krusty Krab and the Barg’ N-Mart via augmented reality. Attendees who stop by the booth can also participate in activities like job interview prep at the Krusty Krab, cooking burgers at a virtual grill and creating custom t-shirts and flip-flops.
