Watch Kamala Harris’ First Post-Debate Interview

Vice President Kamala Harris sat for her first solo TV interview on Friday, three days after her first—and most likely only—debate with former President Donald Trump. But the Democratic candidate notably didn’t appear on any of the major cable or broadcast outlets. Instead, she went local, recording an interview with Brian Taff, anchor of Philadelphia’s 6abc Action News.

In many ways, it was a logical choice. After all, the City of Brotherly Love provided the backdrop for Tuesday’s highly-rated ABC News debate and Pennsylvania is a key battleground state. And reaching out to undecided voters was one of the issues that Taff raised with Harris.

“The vast majority of us as Americans have so much more in common than what separates us,” the vice president said, reinforcing a theme she touched on in the debate. “And I also believe that I am accurate in knowing that most Americans want a leader that brings us together as Americans and not someone who professes to be a leader who is trying to have us point our fingers at each other.”

In contrast to Harris, Trump wasted little time giving interviews in the wake of the debate… with one particular outlet, anyway. The former president crashed the spin room an hour late Tuesday night, answering questions from the assembled journalists before sitting down with Fox News’ Sean Hannity.

Trump also phoned into Fox & Friends on Wednesday morning and recorded an interview with Fox News @ Night host Trace Gallagher that will air Friday night at 11 p.m.

Prior to the debate, Harris appeared alongside running mate Tim Walz for an exclusive interview with CNN. That conversation was seen by 6.3 million viewers.
