Augmented reality is also being implemented into existing mobile games. SYBO’s Subway Surfers, which SYBO says has been downloaded more than four billion times, recently debuted an AR feature called Subway Studio that allows players to choose from 40 of the game’s characters to view in augmented reality on their device screen. Players can capture photos and videos of the AR characters before sharing them. The Subway Studio feature was created for the game’s engaged TikTok community of more than 7.7 million followers.

“I’m incredibly proud of our team for creating such an advanced feature with as many creative possibilities as Subway Studio,” said Murari Vasudevan, technical director at SYBO. “We’re constantly looking to give our players new ways to engage with the game, and this new technology does just that.”
