As prom season gears up, teens everywhere will be looking to combine fancy fashion and fun, and Red Lobster is ready to welcome high schoolers with a stylish accoutrement—a bib.
An upbeat dining experience is why Red Lobster is a popular pre-prom destination, and why its new Prom Drip Bib fit into the experience. Yes, a bib, to protect a prom-goer’s drip (style) from drips and other shellfish-related bits and messes.
The limited edition prom night bibs are designed to save nice clothes from melted butter, cocktail sauce or ranch dressing. The Prom Drip Bibs are Red Lobster red with a stylized font and can drape fully over any outfit.
Independent agency Barkley created The Prom Drip Bib campaign to play up the fun side of fancy when it comes to seafood, and the agency hopes the stunt shows that Red Lobster is a brand teens want to experience.
“Prom-goers are now spending more money and time on their ‘drip’ than ever before. And the perfect prom night social post can’t be ruined by an accidental butter spill or rogue shrimp tail at Red Lobster,” Sam Bonds, svp creative at Barkley, told Adweek. “That’s why the Prom Drip Bib isn’t just a fun/fancy prom night night accessory—it’s a prom night necessity.”
The Prom Drip Bib campaign is running on social media via the hashtag #PromDripBib and is being supported by TikTok influencers @MamaandKenn and @GiaNina. Prom-goers can claim a limited number of free drip bibs by providing their mailing address via the PromDripBib website. The bibs will be available on a first come, first served basis, with more drops announced on social media.
Barkley enlisted the influencers because of their teen followings, which helps build excitement for the product.
“The influencers we reached out to are teens themselves and are totally part of the prom conversation. A lot of the content they create focuses on tips and tricks to rock out the perfect look. So it was a no brainer to bring the Prom Drip Bib to these creators,” said Bonds.
